Thank you to everyone who signed my petition in support of banning peanuts from airlines. The petition now has 1,420 signatures, which is far short of my goal of 10,000 signatures. The comment page on the Department of Transportation site closes in five days, at which time I will post the petition there. I’m asking for your help to reach the goal.
I created the video above, which explains why eliminating peanut service on airlines is so important to the 4.6 million people in the United States alone who are allergic to peanuts or tree nuts. I’ve included photos of a skin contact reaction and a child having an anaphylactic reaction to explain how serious this issue is. Here is the video link: www.youtube.com/watch?v=10Y6z75JG04
If every person who signed the petition would also have every person with an e-mail address in his or her home sign it, it would help even more. Signing takes only 3 seconds, and you can sign even if you are outside the United States, like I am. The petition link is: http://www.change.org/petitions/view/banning_peanuts_from_airlines
When you’re on the petition page, you will see on the right that you can share it with your friends by e-mail or on Facebook. I suggest adding a comment explaining how banning peanuts from airlines would help you and asking your friends and family to sign and show their support. You can even post my video on your Facebook page and help get even more signatures, or share this blog post by using the share buttons at the bottom of this page.
If you run a blog, newsletter, or website and would like to help even more, I would really appreciate if you would post this content or write an article of your own about the petition. You can even download a widget from the petition to post as a badge on your site. If you do so, please let me know, so that I can thank you personally.
Thank you for reading this message, and to each person who takes these extra steps to help out, I say thank you on behalf of my son and the millions of other people affected by this allergy.
