I was alerted to the fact that doTerra Deep Blue Rub contains almond oil by one of their customers, who is severely allergic to nuts. She attempted to find out what was in the product before ordering, but was unable to find this information in their catalogue or online (it’s a catalogue/mail order product). Their catalog has a partial list of ingredients but doesn’t disclose that it’s a partial list, so it was not until she had their product in hand that she could read the ingredients label.
Once it arrived and she saw it has almond oil in it, she was assured by the doTerra consultant that it was a “safe” form of almond oil and that the allergenic parts had been removed. She used the product on her skin and immediately broke out in hives. As symptoms developed, she ended up in an urgent care and needed steroids and antihistamines for 10 days.
